Encaustic Exploration is an ongoing weekly class that allows students to work at their own pace and build on techniques and styles that interest them. Each class will begin with a demo or two and then will allow for studio time for students to explore the techniques introduced in the class and explore how to incorporate the technique into their work and create projects based on these concepts. This class is perfect for those curious about the encaustic process and suitable for all levels.
Participants will explore and develop techniques in this wonderful, waxy medium. Surface preparation, studio set up and various applications will be covered. Some of the techniques we will cover; embedding & attaching, image transfer, mixed media, and painting.
As students gain knowledge and experience expands, students may wish to incorporate their own items and colours. Students will be responsible for additional boards they may choose to use and are encouraged to bring their own supplies as they begin to collect them.
Basic supplies are provided but students will want to begin to add their own pigment sticks, ephemera and other treasures to their creations and supply stash.
Further information and supply list available upon registration.
